Anastasia Parmson is a multicultural artist born in Estonia with Siberian roots, a French education and is currently living and working between Sydney and Oberon in Australia.
Parmson creates immersive drawing installations that challenge conventional boundaries between two and three dimensions. Her practice investigates notions of home, belonging and cultural displacement — themes that resonate with contemporary global dialogues about identity and place.
After receiving her MFA from Strasbourg University in 2009, Parmson has exhibited internationally, including at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery and MAY SPACE in Australia, Megan Dickinson Gallery in New Zealand, Tallinn Light Biennale in Estonia, and Apollonia Art Exchanges in France.
Parmson’s work has been featured in multiple publications such as Colossal, Create! Magazine and on the cover of Articulate Magazine. In 2023 she was published in Studio Visit Book - A Visual Journey through Creative Spaces & Processes of Rising Women in the Arts.
Her work has been recognised as a finalist in significant contemporary drawing awards, including Paul Guest Prize, Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award and the prestigious Dobell Drawing Prize. In 2021, she received a Create NSW Arts and Cultural Funding Grant toward creating her most ambitious installation to date, I Drew A Line And Called It Home.
In late 2023, Parmson launched The Installation Art Podcast, providing a vital platform for discourse around installation practices through conversations with established and emerging practitioners. She has also facilitated diversity-focused creative workshops for City of Ryde council (2025), extending her practice into community engagement.
Parmson works from her rural home studio in the Central Tablelands of NSW, Australia.
